5 December 2008 - London, UK: Online rich media is on the cusp of a revolution as average UK broadband download speeds reach 5Mbs for the first time, according to Top 10 Broadband the UK’s largest independent broadband comparison site.
A jump in average broadband download speeds in the UK from 4.1Mbps in January to 5Mbps in October 2008* has coincided in Britons move from watching predominantly low-quality video clips on platforms like YouTube to high-quality video on the BBC’s iPlayer which perform best at download speeds.
